Lab's Head

Dr. Elimelech Nesher joined Ariel University in 2018 and is currently a Senior Lecturer at the School of Biomedical Sciences and Head of the Tumor Cells Biology Laboratory.

Dr. Nesher received his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Bar-Ilan University in January 2015. He subsequently completed his postdoctoral training in the Department of Cell Stress Biology at Roswell Park Cancer Institute (Buffalo, NY, USA). During this period, his research focused on cellular stress responses, anticancer drug resistance, and the role of chromatin organization in cancer cell survival. His work involved investigating multiple signaling pathways, including p53, NF-kB, interferon responses, and mechanisms of multidrug resistance. He also studied the involvement of histone chaperones in chromatin maintenance and the anticancer activity of chromatin-destabilizing compounds.

At Ariel University, Dr. Nesher established the Tumor Cells Biology Laboratory, which investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying cancer cell adaptation, survival, and resistance to therapy. His current research focuses on metabolic reprogramming under nutrient deprivation, cellular plasticity, chromatin regulation, and the development of experimental anticancer approaches.
